Commercial Site Survey Checklist OPTION A PROVIDE STRUCTURAL AS BUILT BUILDING PLANS 1 Provide as built structural plans of building which include member sizes roof materials design loads etc 2 Provide photographs confirming as built plans a Photos of roof material b Photos of roof structural members and layout c Photos showing everything is in good condition OPTION B PERFORM FULL SITE SURVEY 1 Provide sketch of the layout of all roof framing elements a Beam rafter joist purlin spans and spacing b Column locations c Bracing locations d Enough information that we can redraw the layout of the framing 2 Provide sizes of all roof framing members a Provide depth width and thickness Thickness needs to be to the 1 100 precision for steel members i Steel Wide flange or I shape provide thickness of the top flange bottom flange and web Sometimes the width of the top and bottom chord vary ii Steel Joists provide dimensions for the top chord web diagonals and bottom chord members If members are round we need the thickness or confirm they are solid rods Provide overall geometry of the joist depth length of bays etc enough that we can redraw the joist from the dimensions Also look for a joist classification number or rating Analysis becomes much simpler if the joist rating is known iii Timber Truss Provide sizes of the top chord bottom chord and web members Provide overall geometry of the truss depth length of bays etc enough that we can redraw the joist from your dimensions Look for the timber grade stamp iv Timber Rafters or Beams Provide the size and grade of timber Identify if it is a specialty lumber like LVL or Glulam Most timber members should have a stamp stating the grade v Timber I joist we need to know the depth and series Most timber I joists have a stamp with this information b We recommend taking pictures of the members with a tape or other measuring device next to it for confirmation of your sketch Provide pictures of any stamps tags or identifiers on the members 3 Provide information about roof material shingle concrete tile metal tile metal corrugate metal seam TPO membrane etc a Corrugated Metal Provide geometry of ridges and valleys and panel thickness b Metal Seam Provide spacing height and thickness of seams c Concrete thickness of slab
